Next Gen Chery QQ Spotted Testing

As Chery Auto prepares to release the facelifted QQ3 in the coming weeks, auto.qq.com (not related to QQ the car) posted on Monday three spy shots of what is believed to be a next generation model of the popular supermini in an early stage of road test. The heavily camouflaged car was spotted right outside the Chery headquarters in Wuhu, Anhui.

The photos reveal several notable changes that are to come to the redesigned QQ.

1. It has a clear arc-shapped roof line, while the facelifted QQ3 has a nearly straight one.

2. The external rearview mirrors are installed on the A pillar rather than on the front door as with the QQ3.

3. The rear lamps are moved up from below the rear window to the sides of it.

4. Editors at qq.com judge that in external dimensions and several details (like the rear side door handle/lock), the next generation QQ is close to, and takes hints from, the Riich M1. This means, among other things, it will be noticeably wider than the QQ3 (the current Riich M1 is 1587mm wide, QQ3 1495mm). The wheelbase, however, is likely to remain around 2340mm.

For the engine, the redesigned QQ is expected to get two basic options: the 38kW and 70Nm 0.8-liter found on the current QQ3, and a 1.0-liter DVVT (SQR371F) that is set to appear later this year on the facelifted QQ3 and Riich M1.

There is a good chance for the all new QQ to debut at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show and hit the market towards the end of the year.
