The joint venture of Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology held its first-ever supplier conference earlier this week in Shenzhen to prepare for the volume production of the DENZA EV, which is to be launched next year. About 80 companies from around the world attended the conference.
According to the company’s official press release, Bosch, Continental, Valeo, Benteler, and Harman, which were in attendance, are among the parts and service suppliers selected for DENZA.
In their speeches given at the conference, BYD-Daimler CEO Lian Yubo and COO Arno Roehringer introduced the latest progress DENZA had made and expressed confidence in releasing a high-quality EV and making DENZA a leader in China’s EV industry
The Shenzhen BYD Daimler New Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in July 2010. It launched DENZA, described as China’s first brand dedicated solely to EVs, in March this year, and unveiled a pure-electric concept in the following month. A volume production model based on the concept is scheduled to debut at the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show and be released towards the end of the year. The DENZA EV will be available only in the Chinese market.
