  • 1991: FAW-Volkswagen Auto Co., Ltd. was founded in February. Rolled out the Jetta A2 on December 5.
  • 1993: Rolled out the 10,000th VW Jetta on February 17.
  • 1995: Agreement signed, during Chancellor Kohl’s visit of China, in Beijing between FAW, VW, and Audi to produce Audi cars in China.
  • 1996: Opened engine plant on July 10.
  • 1997: FAW-Volkswagen Sales LLC was founded in May.
  • 2000: China-made Audi A6 hit the market on January 1.
  • 2001: Rolled out the first VW Bora in August.
  • 2003: China-built Audi A4 was released in April. FAW-VW Golf hit the market on July 15.
  • 2006: FAW-VW Sagitar, built on the PQ35 platform, was released on April 9.
  • 2007: FAW-VW Magotan, built on the PQ46 platform, went on sale on July 11.
  • 2008: Put on sale the re-designed VW Bora and Bora Sportline.
  • 2009: The sixth-gen Golf from FAW-VW was released on October 19.
  • 2010: Changchun-made Audi Q5 was released on March 20. Signed agreement on June 9 to construct a vehicle plant in Foshan, Guangdong, which would roll out Golf 7 and Audi A3 in the second half of 2013 or early 2014. FAW-VW Passat CC hit showrooms in July.
  • 2012: Redesigned FAW-VW Sagitar was released in March.
  • 2013: The re-vamped FAW-VW Jetta, built on the PQ25 platform, was released on March 9, Changchun-made Audi Q3 on April 8. Opened the Foshan plant on September 25, rolling out the seventh-gen Golf. Debuted the Carely-brand EV in Beijing on October 17.
