  • 1992: Lifan Group Corporation, the parent of Lifan Auto, was founded in 1992 in Chongqing.

  • 2004: The first Lifan-brand car, the 520 sedan, rolled off the production line in December.
  • 2006: Lifan 520 went on sale on January 19.
  • 2007: Lifan’s first overseas assembly line, located in Vietnam, started to roll out the 520 in May. In November, Lifan and Derways Auto signed agreement to build a vehicle plant in Russia.
  • 2008: Lifan 620 was released on September 19.
  • 2009: Lifan 320 subcompact hit the market in April.
  • 2010:  Lifan opened an assembly line in Azerbaijan in January. In the next month, the 520 rolled off the line in Ethiopia and a Lifan assembly line opened in Uruguay. Lifan 620 EV rolled off the line in March and served as police cars at the World Expo in Shanghai. Lifan Industry Group Co Ltd. became listed in Shanghai on November 25. In December, Lifan started assembling cars in Iraq. By the end of the year, Lifan had seven assembly plants outside China.
  • 2011: Lifan’s first SUV, the X60, was released in China in April and in Dubai in November.
  • 2013: Lifan 720 was released in March; 330, 530, 630 went on sale on October 18.
